Manuscript evaluation and broad-stroke editorial suggestion—consisting of an in-depth reading of the manuscript, an assessment memo to the author with general and some specific comments about the work outlining strengths and weaknesses, and brief follow-up e-mail or phone conversation, as needed or requested—starting at $700 for picture books and starting at $3,500 for novels (fee based on a variety of factors including page count, complexity, genre, etc)
Line-by-line manuscript editing and detailed editorial suggestion—consisting of an in-depth reading of the manuscript, an assessment memo to the author with general and specific comments about the work, detailed line-by-line editorial notations, and brief follow-up e-mail or phone conversation, as needed or requested—starting at $1,200 for picture books and starting at $6,000 for novels (fee based on a variety of factors including page count, complexity, genre, etc)
